Vilu Museum

The Vilu museum is a fair way out of Honiara and the sign has been taken down which makes it hard to find. Basically head west out of Honiara down the Kukum Hwy toward Bonegi Beach. Once you get to Bonegi it is around another 10kms. You will see what is left of the metal sign on the left hand side of the road. Turn left and you will go down a bit of a track with trees on each side - it then opens up. Go through the gate and you will start to see the planes on the right hand side.
Park out the front and someone from the village will come out. It costs around $SBD25 each. The local guide will take you around and show you all the planes and guns. Ask to see the Wildcat's wing foldup - it is very cool.
Just be careful as one of my mates saw a big metal thing in the ground and kicked it. Asking what it was, the local said "hem big fella bomb from sip in hem war". A big naval shell that didn't explode 65 years ago is not good thing to kick!
